Random Fact Wednesday!

Since it tends to be slow by midweek, I’ve decided that every Wednesday I will post a random fact about the Packers, or the city of Green Bay in general. The first fact is all about the Packers former home. City Stadium in Green Bay.

City Stadium was the home of the Green Bay Packers for 30 years from 1926 to 1956. In 1956 they moved into Lambeau Field where they play to this day.

The fencing and signs you see above were added recently as an acknowledgement of the history of that stadium.

On July 31, 2007, as part of the celebration of 50 years at Lambeau Field, the PAckers held practice at old City Stadium, to the delight of the thousands in attendance.

City stadium is still used today, as the home field of the Green Bay East Red Devils. How do I know that little tidbit? I graduated from Green Bay East in 1991, and spent many a Friday night in City Stadium cheering on the Red Devils.

So there is your random fact for the week.

ENJOY!!!
